Style Log: 7 Hippie Summer Must-Haves

Summer is officially here!  My favorite season of the year!  I wish it could be summer all year long. Poolside, beach trips, taking in the sun – it doesn’t get any better than that for me.  And the best thing is all the cute outfits you can wear…I’m definitely not a sweater weather kind of girl.

SL 06232015 (3)This summer’s trends fall on two ends:  bohemian vs. sporty.  Yes, sporty is fun and all (and I’m sure I’ll post something in the near future with this look), but bohemian is my favorite.  Hippie chic with a modern twist is the best for this summer.  With a bohemian look over the summer you can mix and match different colors and patterns.  You really can’t go wrong with any mix.  It’s the best of both worlds for summer: flowy/romantic mixed with bright/bold.

My 7 summer must-haves include:

  1. Bright bikini (duh)
  2. Kimono!
  3. Bell bottom pants (palazzo pants are a good substitute)
  4. Buddha Tassel Necklace
  5. Round, Mirror Sunglasses
  6. Headwrap
  7. Sun hat

SL 06232015 GIF 3Bright bikinis are so much fun in the summer.  I went with a fringe top.  The matching side-tie bottoms are the same color, but no fringe on them.  The top goes well with the overall hippie-chic feel of this look.  You could go with a bandeau top for a similar feel.  OR mix it up with a sporty look and go with a mesh top like this one from Target.

SL 06232015 (33)SL 06232015 (29)A kimono is definitely a favorite of mine this year.  The crochet and lace at the bottom gives it a romantic touch.  The white color really makes this piece such an easy thing to match with any look at any time of the day.  Use it as a cover up when you’re near the water and throw it on to warm you up as the night cools down.

SL 06232015 (5)Palazzo pants are great and all, but a bell-bottom pants really give this look the perfect hippie feel.  The 60s inspired print is very feminine, while the contrasting blue and white colors give it that crisp, fresh summer touch.

You’ve seen this necklace before in this post here.  And I’ve even posted on a similar one here.  So I think it’s safe to say that the tassel necklace is a favorite of mine this summer.  This necklace is THE detail for this look.  It ties in the bikini fringe with the rest of the look.

ROUND, MIRROR SUNGLASSESSL 06232015 GlassesSL 06232015 Glasses CollageSure, you could have mirror sunglasses and get the same effect.  But nothing says hippie like John Lennon.  And nothing says John Lennon like round framed glasses.  Add a mirror lens to that and you’ve got the perfect eye accessory for summer.  Plus, this outfit wouldn’t be the same without it.

HEADWRAPSL 06232015 Headwrap CollageA headwrap is 1. Super hippie! and 2. The perfect summer hair accessory.  Give your hair that extra summer feel with a bright headwrap.  I’m wearing it over a straight look, but you can easily give your summer pony a bold touch.  For even more creativeness, wrap your headwrap around a high bun!

SUN HATSL 06232015 (9)SL 06232015 (39)Protect yourself from those harsh rays while you’re soaking up the sun.  This sun hat really ties in the colors from the necklace to pull whole thing together.  It also gives it almost a completely different look just by switching from a headwrap to a sun hat.

The hippie-chic feel is such a fun look to play with this summer!!
