Work Wear: Brighten Up the Fall

It’s officially fall in Houston with cool mornings/evenings and hot midday weather, but it’s still bright and sunny.  One of my favorite transitions from summer to fall in Houston is the use of summer scarves.  It’s a fun, subtle way to add some happiness to the seriousness of fall colors.

www.lizlauers.comThe main piece of this outfit is the scarf, of course.  The color combination on the foundation pieces compliment it well, making it stand out just enough to not be overbearing.www.lizlauers.comI went with a light blue button down shirt tucked in to light khaki pants for a cheerful combination and subtle foundation .  I added a beige belt to complete this business casual look.www.lizlauers.comFor a little sparkle I added studded flats.www.lizlauers.comIf it gets too hot, you’ll want to take the scarf off.  So don’t forget to add a small pendant necklace to complete the look without the scarf.www.lizlauers.comTo complement the metallic colors of the necklace, I added a pair of 2-sided silver earrings.

www.lizlauers.comwww.lizlauers.comI love the intensity of fall colors, but nothing’s sweeter than the breezy feel of summer colors.  And sweetness is exactly the feeling that this outfit inspired.
