Sun on your skin, salt in your hair. Doesn’t get better than that. Actually…add some wine at sunset, followed by s’mores over a bonfire near the water and then it does get better. My friend Claire and I got to vacation the Florida Keys and Miami, but more on those trips soon. We stayed at the Coconut Palm Inn in Key Largo. And let me tell you…it was soooooo AMAZING!!
As we drove up to the property, we came to a dead end. Parking was a little tricky, but that was just the tiniest price to pay for an amazing location. The landscape surrounding the building makes it a secluded paradise. The minute you walk in, you’re greeted by the friendliest staff and some yummy rum punch – coconut garnish is sprinkled at the top. The perfect drink to take in the sweetest accommodations.
The walk from the front desk to your room is a short, beautiful one. Flowers, foliage and patio furniture make up the landscape. A gravel path takes you to a wooden ramp surrounded by more foliage that leads you to your room.
The room is the sweetest thing. Big, comfy bed, palm tree lamps, and a sun room add to the beachy feel. The bathroom and closet are a bit small, but this isn’t something that would take away from your stay. It may be a little outdated, but that just adds to the small-town charm.
The morning breakfast reception includes fruit, bagels, coffee, juice. And you can’t beat the view!! At night, the staff set up a bonfire and provide marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate for guests to make s’mores.
Even though you are technically “beachfront,” the water is not ideal for swimming – we saw several jellyfish (yikes!). The pool available to you may be smaller, but a part of it is up to 6ft. deep – great for jumping right in!!
The Coconut Palm Inn truly is a beachfront hideaway and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a place to stay in Key Largo. Check out a bit more of our stay in this video:
