Style Log: Let’s Polka…80s Style

Let’s polka!  Is that a thing people say?  I don’t know.

When I came across these 80s style pants I immediately thought of Monica Geller. Her style at the beginning of the Friends series was so late 80s/early 90s spot on it was just…ugh. I can’t. I loved it! I know Rachel was always the fashionista, but Monica’s style had its moments, too.

So, combine that thought process and the fact that these pants were only 25 CENTS!!, I just couldn’t pass them up. Yes, you read that right. 25 CENTS. Hi, I’m Liz, and I am a thrift-a-holic. Ca-ching!! 💲💲💲

Polka with me!! 💃
Starting from the top: the crop top. Simple, gray and can be used every day. It gives you some flexibility to add other colors and gives a modern appeal.  We all love the 80s, but you don’t want to look like you just pulled up in Doc’s car. (Back to the Future anyone? No? OK.)
To accessorize, I went with a simple necklace in a yellow (really more of a chartreuse) color that kinda sorta matches the polka dots on the pants 😄

A dark blue, vintage-y feel clutch made the perfect addition to this look.
Navy shoes only seemed fitting for this look. They have a bit of a “Monica” feel to them, too, don’t you think? I do.
And, finally, the beloved pants. High-waisted and pleating really give away that 80s vibe.
I really love the button detail on one side. They remind me of buttons I used to see in my grandma’s or mom’s clothes way back in the day.

My favorite thing about these pants are how comfy and versatile they are. You could go for a super casual look like this one, or dress it up for a work wear look 💼 😊 You can even transition them to winter later in the year with a sweater (excuse me while I file this in my idea bank).

Check out these similar pieces to get the look:
